General Pump Telescoping Spray Wand - 6-18 Feet Long, Model# DLTG18A Review

I purchased this tool to clean out my gutters around the house.The side of my house slopes away so the extra reach is necessary.I use it in conjunction with a commercial duty pressure washer, gutter elbow and high pressure nozzle.

The first thing to mention is that these are tricky to use when they are fully extended.You will need to pull DOWN on the unit when you trigger the spray (it acts like a rocket nozzle when using the gutter elbow).The entire unit tends to dance around, even with the harness.I recommend having one person man the actual pressure washer (wheel it around, wrangle hoses, etc.) while the other concentrates on directing the spray with the wand.

I have a major complaint with this unit and that has to do with using it for the first time.The unit extends via two nested aluminum pipes that are held in place with a spring loaded clip.The hose runs along the inside of these pipes.The problem is that these pipes are essentially FROZEN SOLID and will NOT budge when you first get the unit. I used penetrating oil on each joint and also lubricated the hose and that did not work.I was able to clamp the end into a vise and repeatedly lunged my full body weight (250+ lbs) to get it to move (1/2" at a time).Yes, this is with the spring clips released :-).Using this method it took about 30 minutes of pulling (1/2" at a time) to get both parts fully extended.Once the pipes were fully extended I hosed then entire thing down with lithium grease.Now it slides very easily by hand.I have to imagine that the original lubricant (if any existed) melted out as this product was shipped from overseas?

Although getting the unit into working condition was a pain, I am not aware of any competing product.In fact, it seems that most pressure washer fittings are made by General Pump overseas.If anyone is aware of -quality- fittings that don't corrode I would be interested in hearing about it!

NorthStar Pressure Washer Surface Cleaner - 11.5in. Dia. Size, Model# FCL300BEM22MLNS Review

I bought a surface cleaner from a "big box" store that was lousy. It broke halfway into the first use.

After a little research, I found this Northstar Surface Cleaner available at a local Northern Tools location. It's a solid, well-built metal unit. Super-simple to assemble--just screw on the extension to the base.

The only problem I had was initially the cleaning heads didn't rotate very well. I "tweaked" the angle of the heads (used a crescent wrench to move the threaded heads) so there was more "thrust" and then voila!, it worked like a champ.

There are cheaper surface cleaners, but like every tool the better built stuff usually costs a little more. This is well worth it in my view. I cleaned my back patio, both walkways and then my driveway a few hours. (Note that I did have to go back and wash off the loose residue from the concrete. This cleaner does a good job of "blasting" the gunk up, but not pushing it in one direction to remove it from the surface completely.)

Comet Pump Pressure Washer Pump - 2.5 GPM, 2700 PSI, 5 HP to 6.5 HP Required, Model# VRX2527G Review

I bought this pump last year to replace the one that failed on my 8hp Generiac pressure washer. This pump is not ceramic like the original, but has already lasted longer than the original unit. It bolted on just fine, I had to get an adapter for one of the fittings, but no big deal. This unit has been a good replacement for a power washer that is used by the neighborhood for washing their house before painting. I don't know if it would hold up for professional, but for us it has been fine. 3 houses done, and it is still working. To powerfull for washing cars though, it took the paint right off my montero bumper, and the labels off my fiberglass ladders.

i have no issues with the shipper in terms of shipping time etc.
the gun works also but the one i got does not completely shut off water flow when the trigger is released......very disappointed.
anyway in all fairness to the seller i cannot blame them for this problem as they are not the manufacturers and this might not be the case for all of the guns.......im probably just unlucky.

Oil and Water Separator - Air Compressor Review

I wanted to quickly review this product to tell you about my experience with it.

I used teflon/plumbers tape to make sure my connections were sealed tightly so I would not lose air. At first the separator functioned great for about a year. Kept all of the moisture out of my air tools!

However, a year later the separator formed a crack in the acrylic housing and began leaking so much air out that it caused my compressor to turn on every 5 minutes! I understand why they used acrylic so the person could tell if it was full of water and needed to be drained.

The point is however, acrylic, no matter how thick, is not designed to hold pressure above 50 PSI (Pressure Per Square Inch). And since most air tools require 90 PSI or more, the separator will not stand up to that pressure for very long.

I think it would make a better solution to make the separator out of metal, since it can hold up to great pressures more, and the person just needs to remember to drain their separator same time they drain their compressor.

In conclusion, I like these things when they work, however I don't recommend this product and I highly recommend the buyer to spend more money on a metal unit. That is all...
